What is proctoring?
Proctored exams are timed exams that you take while proctoring software monitors your computer's desktop, webcam video and audio. The data recorded by the proctoring software is transferred to a secure, 3rd party proctoring service for review. Proctored exams may or may not be required for your course and enrollment track.
What are the proctoring providers used by edX?
edX courses currently use two proctoring providers: Software Secure (PSI) and Proctortrack
Do learner need to install software in order to take proctored exams?
Yes, learners may need to install the proctoring service used in their course, if the course has proctoring, in order to take the proctored exam.
Tips:
- edX Enterprise Customers should take steps to allow the installation of both vendors software when company computers are used.
- If companies do not allow proctoring software installation - learners should use an alternative computer for the exam
- Learners should check at the beginning of each course to determine if proctoring software is required.
- Learners should visit edX Learner Help Center article Proctored exam rules and requirements here, which provides an overview of the computer and browser requirements.
